About this camp

The Chapman University Summer Engineering Academy offers high school students a hands-on workshop focused on AI and machine learning. Participants will actively build artificial intelligence models, exploring how they learn from data and practicing with Python-based tools. The curriculum includes experimenting with generative AI to add creative elements to projects and integrating these into interactive applications using Python and Scratch. Students will gain practical coding skills and develop a critical understanding of responsible AI, covering aspects like fairness, transparency, data privacy, and societal impact. The program emphasizes a 'human in the loop' approach, demonstrating how human input guides AI systems through reviewing predictions, correcting errors, and making final decisions. By the end of the workshop, students will have created a project they can be proud of, turning their curiosity into capability in the field of AI.
