About this camp

The Medical Intelligence and Innovation Institute (Mi4) Summer Internship Program at CHOC offers high school students a unique opportunity to explore the future of healthcare. Interns engage in problem-solving and create solutions in emerging areas relevant to pediatric medicine, such as genomic medicine, regenerative medicine, nanomedicine, robotics, artificial intelligence, big data, medical devices, and mobile technology. The program emphasizes hands-on activities, including clinical workshops with demos in ECMO, ultrasound, and suturing, as well as clinical debriefs and case studies. Students gain public speaking skills by presenting mini-topics at monthly Mi4 meetings and have the chance to prepare and present a research project on an innovation to improve healthcare delivery. The internship also includes mentorship from a diverse group of healthcare leaders, including CEOs, CFOs, physicians, nurses, and data scientists.
