About this camp

Stratford School Mission Viejo Summer Academic Camp - Robotics offers an engaging and hands-on experience for students in grades 1-5. Campers will dive into the world of robotics, exploring engineering concepts and learning to build and program robots. Utilizing tools like LEGO® Education WeDo Robotics kits for younger students and LEGO® Mindstorms EV3 Robotics kits for older elementary students, participants will construct various robots, such as drumming monkeys, roaring lions, EV3puppies, and color-sorters. They will then program these robots to complete challenge activities, fostering problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The curriculum introduces basic computer science concepts through block programming, focusing on loops, control flow, conditionals, and hardware components like motors and sensors. Students will work independently and in small groups, promoting teamwork and collaboration. The camp aims to enhance a child's love of learning while developing technical skills and creativity in a fun and supportive environment.
