About this camp

The Fullerton Mathematical Circle (FMC) at Cal State Fullerton offers an enrichment program for gifted middle and high school students interested in mathematics. Inspired by similar programs in Central Europe, the FMC aims to engage students in the wonderful world of mathematics through problem-solving skills and strategies. Each session features a mini-lecture followed by small group work, fostering active engagement in the problem-solving process. Undergraduate and graduate students from CSUF's Department of Mathematics, who are interested in teaching careers, support the sessions as facilitators and role models. The program covers diverse mathematical topics, including plane geometry, elementary number theory, game theory, logic, counting techniques, and combinatorics. Students develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to formulate and interpret mathematical solutions. The FMC also focuses on preparing students for mathematical competitions like the American Mathematical Competitions (AMC).
